Bali Body self tanning mousse + gradual tanner

It’s currently snowing here — not sure why in May?! — so a little self tan is just what I need to make me feel less pasty in isolation. So, when Bali Body contacted me to see if I wanted to try some of their products I was very excited to try them out. The products they sent me were: their BB Cream in Fair, Self Tanning Mousse in Dark, Gradual Tan and their Luxe Tanning Mitt. As soon as they arrived I slathered on the tan and 2 weeks later typed up my honest review below...

Self Tanning Mousse - Dark

Firstly, the tan smells really nice - a bit of a fresh, soapy scent which I really liked - and went on really well with a dark guide colour. I was a bit shocked at first by how dark it was, however I think the main idea behind their products is that they’re made for people who like to be really tanned - which I’m not used to, as I’m naturally so pale. The tan dried well, however I would recommend putting on old clothes whilst it develops for a couple hours as there was a bit of transfer.

Before/After

Once the tan had developed I definitely had a visibly darker tan than I’ve ever had before from a fake tan, which might have been a bit too dark for me personally. It did leave a nice streak-free finish, however it did go slightly patchy on my hands and if there was a patch that I missed slightly, the contrast of my pale skin made it more obvious that I was wearing tan. Luckily, I do also have the gradual tan, which I have just applied before I started writing this, so I’m going to try that out and report back on that tomorrow (below).

If you love the dark tan look (which most people do) and aren’t as pale as a ghost like me, then it’s definitely worth a try. The tan lasted well and faded out gradually over 2 weeks - which was really good as I have a bath most days.

Gradual Tan

The consistency of the gradual tan was also really nice, went on smoothly and dried nicely without being sticky. Now to wait to see how it develops!

8 hours later... it developed into a nice even tan. I would say it’s more like a light/medium self tanner than a gradual tan, but that might just be because it’s on me. This is definitely my favourite of the 2! It’s been a couple days now and it has started to fade evenly so I’ll probably be doing a top up tonight....
