If you have read some of my previous posts you will probably know that I used to live in London. Although I was sad to leave London, Sweden is a new adventure that I think I will enjoy as much as my time in London (or hopefully more). So far, we have had amazing weather – including the snow on our first day - and it is hard to get over how eco-friendly and organic everything is. I am yet to master this whole Fika thing, as I’m used to doing things at 100miles p/h, but I am trying. If you didn’t know, Fika is a social ritual where you take time off during the day for coffee and a small treat – usually some kind of bulle (cardamom bun) for me - where you can take a moment in the day to relax and catch up with friends.
Since moving I have started a new challenge: a ‘30 day wellness journey' to essentially get healthier, with this I have created a separate Instagram account to keep me motivated and on track. You can find that here if that’s your sort of thing. To help me with my ‘challenge’ I have been listening to a few new podcasts and have been reading a few of my favourite books, therefore thought I would share some of the books with you too:
I bought this before moving to Sweden to try to get into the ‘Swedish mindset’. However, like Fika, it is something I’m yet to master. Lagom is often loosely translated as ‘not too much and not too little’, everything in moderation. Which, if you know me, is a challenge in itself – as I can often overconsume in many ways. I’m hoping this book can teach me a few things.
I bought Louise’s first book and I loved it. So, when this came out I was intrigued. It is basically a 6 week plan to being healthier, which runs through a step-by-step checklist for each week of the plan - I can’t resist a checklist. Each section offers healthy recipes, workouts and tips to staying healthy.
I completed this last year and it is one of my favourite books still – it is also so easy to read that you could read it all in one go if you wanted. It’s basically the science behind what we eat and how it affects our gut, including recipes.
If you haven’t guessed by now, I really like plans. This book is a step-by-step 10 day meal plan to… you guessed it… nourish and glow. I followed this last year and I found it really did help my skin. It gives you a shopping list in the back, so you don’t have to work out all the ingredients; it also tells you what to prep the night/week before to make it as quick and easy to do as possible.
