Rimmel London Lips

Today I went in search of my perfect lipstick; a dark red, almost burgundy, matte lipstick (I'm still yet to find it, so let me know if you've seen of one with these characteristics). 

After swatching the whole shops worth of dark red lipsticks on the back of my hand, I had to settle for the darkest shade I could find; an Apocalips lip lacquer in the colour Eclipse. Although this isn't matte, or even THAT dark I had heard good things about it and liked the colour so decided to give it a whirl. I also picked up a Rimmel Lasting Finish lip liner in Black Tulip to go with it; or even use as an all over colour if I didn't get on with the lip lacquer.


I'm not usually a gloss wearer, but the name 'lip lacquer' enticed me in. I'm not really keen on how glossy it is, but I like the fact that, unlike other glosses, it stains the lips a bit; which means it stays on for a long time. It also doesn't have any glitter or shimmer in it; which is a big plus for me. Another plus is that it isn't sticky like other glosses I have tried, and the colour payoff is amazing. The smell is a negative for me though as it just smells a bit plastic-y (if that's a word?), but it's not too overpowering. Overall it's a really nice gloss lacquer and I'm looking forward to wearing it more.

The lip pencil also has amazing colour payoff. I wouldn't say it lasted for ages but it went on smoothly and easily and at £2.99 I would consider it great value for money.
